Massage Services

There are many different types of massages. Finding the one that works for your needs is important.  Each massage has a different quality.  Relaxation focused, therapeutic focused.  Frequency is also important.  How often should you get a massage? Consistency is the most important when deciding.  Once a week is ideal and then from there as long as it’s consistent your body will adjust to the schedule you provide.

Maya Abdominal Massage

Maya abdominal massage is an external, noninvasive, manipulation that helps to reposition misplaced reproductive organs and improve blood flow to the digestive organs. Working into the abdomen it is possible to help the body achieve and maintain balance and good blood circulation. This technique, also works the back and sacrum to help relieve tension and soften ligaments that surround the pelvic region. It restores biochemical balance by rectifying biomechanical integrity. In this way, it can be supportive to many reproductive, digestive and structural concerns – including difficulty conceiving, menstrual conditions, fibroids, endometriosis, GERD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, adhesions, scarring, constipation, chronic fatigue, migraines and chronic pain. It can be a potent ally on fertility journeys, working in conjunction with assisted reproductive technologies. Spiritual healing in this tradition can support embodiment, integration and the release of all manner of trauma.

What to expect at your first visit.  I will send you an intake form to fill out and return before your appointment.  You will come to your appoinment like any other massage.  Depending on what was discussed at the consultation you will also experience an additional modality.  This will allow for a more healing experience.  Treatment plan will be discussed at the initial consultation.  We can discuss packages at that time as well

History of Maya Abdominal Massage

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo as a result of her long term apprenticeship with the late Maya H’Men (Doctor-Priest), Don Elijio Panti of Belize.

As shared beautifully in the book Sastun, Dr. Rosita’s apprenticeship journey alongside Don Elijio Panti in his final years is a mythic love story of the soul.  Rosita and her family moved to Belize in the early 1980s  to live a life closer to the land.  There she set up her herbal clinic, dispensing beloved North American remedies that she knew so well.  She longed to become acquainted with the powerful medicinal plant beings of the jungle around her.  One day, an elderly man found his way into her clinic, and as they traded stories about linden leaves he introduced himself.  In Rosita’s own words, she “nearly dropped her glass jar”.  Before her stood the most esteemed medicine man of the region, carrying exactly the knowledge she was seeking.

After many tears and failed attempts at convincing Don Elijio to take her on as a student, Spirit intervened in the form of a dream vision.  In a field of corn planted by Don Elijio’s own hands, he shared that he had received a clear directive to teach Rosita, and the condition he placed upon this was she would need to promise to look after his people after his death. It was with permission from Don Elijio that Rosita was able to share his wisdom with everyone.  Without her perserverance and tenacity we would not be able to bring this work to you and help so many people live a fuller life.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater. Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, and vein, as well as, all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain, and spinal cord. The fascia system is one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. Every part of the body is connected to every part of the fascia system.

When we experience trauma either physical or emotional, that moment of pain is stored in the cells.  The tissue creates scar tissue  and eventually when not treated can become dehydrated.  Myofascial Release as I learned from John Barnes, releases the tissue and hydrates the fascia.

First Visit is like any other massage I will also assess your body and see where your restrictions are.  Then we can discuss a treatment plan.  Myofascial Release treatment can see amazing results in the first session, however it is recommended that multiple sessions are needed.  We can discuss time frame and when to return.  The goal is to get you feeling good and have a maintenance plan established.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy is a treatment used with essential oils that can be inhaled or topically applied.  This is used to improve the health of the mind, body, and spirit connection.  I use a technique called the Symphony of The Cells.  It is incorporated into the massage to enhance the healing process.  There are many protocols that correspond with the system of the body.  I find which one will work for your body and symptoms and then apply it to the spine, neck, and feet.  You will go home with the protocol so you can also do this by yourself.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is an essential part of your healing plan.  All the years that I have been doing massage and the countless classes I have taken have always come back to one common cause of our issues, Stress! It is the number one factor in muscle pain, weight gain and difficulties with conceiving.  Getting a relaxation massage actually increases endorphins, serotinin, and oxytocin while decreases cortisol. This is not about luxury but in the world we live in a necessity.  This is all part of the healing process.

Getting a relaxation massage in between your Maya Abdominal Massage is very beneficial.  It will increase your chances of conceiving and allow for the body to decompress when you are on your menstrual cycle.

Plan a Visit

Thank you for your interest in massage.  Let’s schedule a consultation to talk about which massage treatment would be right for you.

What if I don’t have an Arvigo® Maya Abdominal Therapist near me what do I do?

No Worries, I can still help.   Yes getting treated by a therapist is very beneficial but we can work together to find someone in your area or nearby areas. The self care portion which you learn when you receive a massage is also very beneficial and it’s what really creates the change in your body.  If that’s all you have at the moment then you are heading in the right direction.  The idea is to get you on the path of feeling good no matter what your resources.  Everything can be done via zoom or FaceTime.

Schedule an online session and I will teach you the self care portion along with a consultation to go over what’s going on with your body and what other modalities you can incorporate into your routine.
